Small Ways to Brighten Your Day

(Old Post— 2022)

I made a list of small things I can do each day that will make me feel lighter and energetically fulfilled.

It is important to feel this way and to know how to change your energetic signature because our environment will mirror it back to us. If I am having a great day, these are ways I can make it even better. If I am having a not-so-good day I switch my focus with things that don’t take more than five minutes of my time.

Majority of this list I can do anywhere. It is my personal list, things that make me feel good inside. You are welcome to draw inspiration from it and write down your own list. Remember, it has to be small and not at all time consuming. The quicker it can be done and the least effort, the better. That way, no matter what your day looks like, you can heighten your energy.

I will leave modifiers at the end. They are some ways in which you can make the tip portable and have it work for you. I hope you enjoy.

Here it is:

  • Say hi to your plants and pets

  • Wake up and sit in the balcony

  • Write for 10 mins a day

  • Meditate for 5 mins every night

  • Let water wash away your worries

  • Say 3 things you are thankful for

  • Read a book for 30 mins

  • Light a candle

  • Put on some chill music

  • Buy a small sustainable decor for your house (a plant for example)

  • Make yourself a yummy beverage: drink some iced coffee (decaf bc caffeine is not good for you), smoothie, or tea

  • Batch food so you are never hungry

  • Stretch for 5 mins then enjoy however long it takes

  • Create a space for yourself and go there daily

  • Clean or tidy up a part of your house

  • Look at yourself in the mirror and smile

  • Go for a walk and compliment someone

  • Put your bare feet on the grass

  • Color, draw, or crochet

  • Sit still

P.S.:

  • If you don’t have a balcony, a window will work just fine. The point is to get some sun in your face for the morning to be able to greet you.

  • I personally think everyone should meditate because it has way too many benefits on the physical, emotional, and mental. Not to talk about the spiritual!

  • Carry a candle in your purse or car, because why not, they smell good. Light in a safe place.

  • Music has incredible effects on humans, use it to your advantage.

  • If you don’t like reading, you probably haven’t found the right book for you (contact me and I’ll help you, I love recommending books). There is something for everyone. There are photography books, comics, and poetry, which are all less time consuming. Regardless of what you choose, reading will always make you learn something new.

  • Gratitude is a good way to switch your focus from a bitch-fest to a blessed state.

  • If you don’t have a green thumb, get a succulent and connect to it as if it was alive (because they are). Talk to it and see a plant live for the first time in your care.

  • Clean or tidy a part of wherever you are. It always makes me feel relieved when I am in an uncluttered space. Whether that is the office, kitchen, house, desk at school, tidy it up, it will make you feel organized.

Feel free to tell me if any of these small ways worked for you and what you added on to your list. I would love to know. Contact me through email hello@miavlopez.com or Instagram @itsmiavlopez.
