The Basics of Profile Lines In Human Design
The profile lines in Human Design will the archetypal information you carry with you. You become the characters that each line produces. We all have two of the profile lines, each a combination of what we will create in our lives since the moment we are born. Each has a distinct flavor that is wonderful. Some get along better with others, some are too different and need to find a way to belong with one another.
Line 1
The researcher. The curious one. The investigator. Here we see that one friend who always has to google things and goes down rabbit holes about conspiracy theories. Line 1s thrive in their alone time while learning, researching, and looking things up. They find pleasure in understanding how the world works. Each line 1 will have a field they mostly like to dabble in. But whatever field they pick, they will know ALL about it.
Their shadow lies in the fact they feel inadequate since there is always more to learn. They want to feel like no one is going to one-up them with information they have never seen. This is where impostor-syndrome can hit pretty heavily. If you are a line 1, practice affirmations such as:" “I know enough. I am good enough. I can teach. I do not have to have all the information to be good at _____.”
Line 2
The talented one. I love line 2s because they dont have to try very hard at all to be good at something. But as Ra would put it, they have to find what this something is to feel truly useful in this world. Line 2s need a lot of alone time. Yet, people will constantly seek them out to express their unique gifts with the world. What these gifts are vary from each one.
People are very important to a line 2, it might not seem this way for how naturally being a hermit feels like to them. But, they do need that recognition of others to understand their purpose. Line 2s need to make sure to not burn themselves out by doing too much with other people, while carefully toe-ing the boundary of how much alone time is enough. Be careful to avoid the world and live always in your comfort zone.
Line 3
You fail, get up, dust yourself off and try again. What is failure but an opportunity to try something different out? It is experience, that is the definition of failure. Line 3s resiliency and carefree attitude is built-in to manage the trial and erroring of their life. The journey a line 3 has embarked on is a way to figure out all the ways that do not work to share them with other people.
In other words, line 3s are looking not for success, but for failure in a way. Nothing better to them to scratch off the list of things that have no merit. It is their collective purpose for others to learn from their mistakes. It also creates a grand life, rich in experiences and various ways of seeing, feeling, and creating the world. If you are a line 3, life is reallyyy experiencing itself through you. Dont get too attached to things and simply enjoy the ride.
Line 4
The network minded. Community oriented pals. The ones that see the world through the eyes of others. I am a line 4. I am a bit biased when writing about it. I love people to my detriment sometimes. I need to create clear boundaries in how much I energy I pour into others vs. how much energy I pour in myself. Sometimes, my reason to live and breathe is other people. I need to be careful not to put myself last every time.
Line 4s get their opportunities, resources, and well… almost everything from their network. It is important to have friends, family, and colleagues. It is important to love people in the way they like to be loved. The health of your network or community will be your overall health. Pick those around you very well.
Line 5
The problem-solver. The people’s hero. This line gets projected on, there is a veil that wont let people see them quite clearly. However, this veil, applies to them too. So within, so without. Line 5s tend to project their desires on other people as much as people project what they want line 5s to be. We all do this, it is a natural human tendency, but as a line 5 this will be much more visible.
Line 5s are here to lead the people and create solutions. Their ideas might be controversial, as the point is to fix, aka change something. Their purpose makes it so that people constantly wants them to “fix” things in their life. It is important that as a line 5 you have healthy boundaries and say yes to only the projections you can live up to.
Line 6
The role model. This is the only line that has specific phases. Line 6s go through three distinct parts of their life. The first starts at birth and goes on to their 30th birthday. It is the experimentation phase, basically acting as a line 3. However, unlike a line 3, they store every bit of information into their brains in order to make sense of what they will teach/share at a later age.
The second phase is called “on the roof,” as they stop engaging so much with the experimentation and now simply relax, observe, and reflect on their life experiences. The third phase, they climb out of said roof at 50 years old. They finally embody all their teachings as they have lived them and spent time assessing them. They become the role models of the collective.
Harmonic Lines
Same lines get along together. Line 1s get along with line 4s. Line 2s with line 5s. Line 3s with line 6s. They understand one another because there are interpersonal aspects that are similar in nature. This is not to say you wont get along with another person if you do not have harmonic lines, it just means these will innately understand each other because of the similarities. Remember, our growth lies on our differences not our same-ness.
